Senior Fundraising Officer
James’ Place
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000, depending on experience
Location: London, with hybrid working
Hours: Ideally Full Time
Closing Date: 20 January 2022
Our mission is to stop men dying by suicide.
We believe death by suicide is preventable. Yet, in the UK in 2018, 6,507 people died by suicide of which three-quarters were men. Suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 50.
At James’ Place, we want to make sure that help is available for every man facing a suicidal crisis and support them to find hope for the future. We work with health partners to deliver a service to men whose needs have not been met by traditional services.
The first James’ Place opened in June 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, and has to date supported more than 550 men experiencing suicidal crisis, delivering over 2,000 therapy sessions using an innovative and safe therapeutic intervention. We have recently replicated this model in London, offering our service in a temporary space whilst we refurbish our permanent home near Old Street. We plan to open three further centres in other cities around the UK by 2025. To do this, we will launch a major appeal in 2022 to raise the funds needed deliver our life-saving intervention on a national scale.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced fundraiser to work in our new London centre, focusing on two key areas: developing and building local income streams, and working with the Head of Development to deliver the overall fundraising strategy. This role will also work with the Head of Development and wider fundraising team on a national appeal to be launched in 2022 to fund the new centres and other central fundraising work.
This is a new role in the organisation and an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and growing organisation, working for a vital cause. The postholder will need to work independently and take responsibility for fundraising activity in London, with appropriate support from other centre staff, fundraising colleagues and the Head of Development, alongside an inspiring Chief Executive and Trustees who also take an active role in supporting fundraising.
We are a small team working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. We can offer hybrid working. For further details on the charity and our work, please see https://www.jamesplace.org.uk/about/ For full details on the role and person specification, please see the JD below.
To Apply: Please send a CV and cover letter to the Head of Development Amy Swart via amy.swart@jamesplace.org.uk as soon as possible or before the closing date.
