Global Grants Associate
EMpower
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Location: London or New York/Washington D.C.
Hours: Full Time
Closing date: 18 January 2022
EMpower sits at the nexus of two worlds – finance and youth leadership – where we put smart money behind smart solutions. Our vision is building a world where all young people at the margins, especially girls, have the skills, opportunities, and power to live their full potential. Working to improve the lives and horizons of young people ages 10-24 in emerging market countries, we partner with local organisations and other change-makers, to enable marginalised young people to transform their lives and communities.
In a time of worldwide disruption and change, EMpower has continued to grow and evolve. We are currently operationalising a new grantmaking model that is more closely aligned with our Theory of Change, better reflecting the changing needs of grantee partners and the evolution of trust-based philanthropy practices.
As our grantmaking and programme portfolios have evolved and grown, we have seen an increase in complexity in our internal systems and procedures. We are transitioning to a new grants management software with the aim of stream-lining our processes, while also allowing us to systematically gain insight into the connections between our grant making, programme learning and impact.
Part of a small programmes operations team, the Global Grants Associate is responsible for grants administration and grants management, for coordinating and overseeing EMpower’s global grant making processes and procedures for 100+ grants per year across three entities. This position is critical to EMpower’s mission in engaging and learning from youth-centered local organizations and supporting EMpower’s grantmaking capabilities.
An exciting time to join a growing organisation, EMpower strives to attract, grow, motivate, and retain exceptional talent. We are committed to a team work environment that recognises contribution, fosters respect, facilitates strong performance, and prises inclusion. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, recognising that diversity enriches all staff and our work globally.
