Salary: £64,790 - £80,465 plus £3,285 London Weighting
Location: Hybrid, 2 days in London Office, occasional international travel
Hours: Full Time (35 hrs) although 4 days can be considered

The Mental Health Foundation is the UK’s leading charity for everyone’s mental health. We are home to Mental Health Awareness Week and, with prevention at the heart of what we do, we aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive.

We publish studies and reports on what protects mental health and the causes of poor mental health and how to tackle them.

We test and evaluate the best approaches to improving mental health in communities and then roll them out as widely as possible.

We give advice to millions of people on mental health. We are most well-known for running Mental Health Awareness Week across the UK each year. We enable mentally healthier lives through public information and engagement.
Change policy and practice
We propose solutions and campaign for change to address the underlying cause of poor mental health.
The Mental Health Foundation is seeking to attract a diverse range of candidates in our search for an outstanding Director of Fundraising and Communications to lead our vital work growing our income and profile. This is a hugely exciting opportunity to harness the public interest in mental health and turn that into growing income streams, innovative partnerships and engaging and authentic content for our audiences. You will be an inspiring and experienced leader, committed to supporting our inclusive and collaborative culture. You will oversee the work of a growing and talented team of fundraising and communication specialists across the UK and play a pivotal role in the Foundation’s senior management team.
What does the role involve?
Providing strategic leadership of our fundraising and communications work
Overseeing the delivery of Mental Health Awareness Week each year, one the largest awareness weeks in the UK
Building new relationships and partnerships to further the Foundation’s vision of Good Mental Health for All
Role modelling our values in action and championing of our commitment to being an anti-racist organisation
What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?
Clear experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams with a values led approach
Significant experience of growing or diversifying income streams and/or strengthening a charity’s brand profile
Strong track record as an effective communicator, relationship builder and partnership builder.
Solid analytical and reporting experience at senior management and board levels

We are currently operating mostly digital recruitment (including interviews via video conferencing). We have moved to a hybrid working model of a minimum of 2 days per week in the office and the rest working from home for full time staff, pro rata for part time staff.
