UK Development Manager - Corporate Partnerships

EMpower

Salary: £53,000 - £60,000, depending on experience

Location: London, Hybrid

Hours: Full or Part Time *Role Closed*

EMpower puts smart money behind smart solutions. Our vision is building a world where all young people at the margins - especially girls - have the skills, opportunities and power to live their limitless potential.  We partner with local organisations and other change-makers across 15 emerging market countries, providing long-term grants and capacity building to enable marginalised young people aged 10-24 to transform their lives and communities.

In time of worldwide disruption and change EMpower has continued to grow and evolve. Significantly, we have the unique fundraising advantage that all our core costs are covered by our underwriters and Leadership Council - this means that all funds we secure are directly delivered via our long term grants (up to 10 years) and capacity building work for young people.

Founded in 2000 and with a strong background in high value giving within the financial services sector, in 2019 we invested in diversifying our fundraising for the first time, growing our Development Team and specifically our corporate partnership capability. We have since achieved significant success with large corporate organisations such as JP Morgan, Blackrock and Legal and General amongst others, so there is a lot of momentum to build from. We are ambitious to continue forging relationships – deepening our links with the financial services industry as well as making inroads into other sectors.

Our UK Development Manager, Corporate Partnerships role is the lead position to pursue corporate funding in the UK with the role responsible for both cultivating new and existing relationships.  The post holder will therefore need to be a confident networker, representing EMpower at meetings, forums and events as well as supporting engagement with key funders in order to initiate and strengthen our relationships.

This post sits within a highly effective and passionate global fundraising team that has doubled the organisation's income in the last 5 years. The successful candidate will relish operating in a highly collaborative and supportive team environment where there is opportunity to contribute to a wide range of strategic initiatives, including the opportunity to contribute to a global fundraising strategy.

We are looking for someone who brings demonstrable experience of proactively securing and/or managing grants from corporate donors OR institutional sales in a financial institution. Experience working in an international development organisation or philanthropic organisation is preferred; however we are also open to those with the right skills and values aligning to our mission and vision, who are looking to transition into the sector.
