Chair and 5 Trustees
Centrepoint
Salary: Unremunerated
Location: London or Remote
At Centrepoint, we believe no young person’s life should be defined by homelessness. Founded in 1969, Centrepoint provides housing, education, skills and health support for young people regionally in London, Manchester, Yorkshire and the North East and through partnerships all over the UK.
Our vision is to end youth homelessness nationally by 2037. As the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, Centrepoint will spearhead the endeavour to end youth homelessness by testing potentially innovative and effective solutions, delivering exemplar services for young people and, using insight gained, amplify the voices of young people and mobilise society to campaign, influence, and orchestrate systemic change. Preventing youth homelessness is a core area of our work - we have recently launched the largest pilot in England that responds to the challenge of intervening far earlier in the lives of young people and their families to prevent homelessness at age 16. It involves a collaboration between schools, academia and youth services.
As a Board of Trustees, we strive to create a board culture that is collaborative, committed, diverse and inclusive and this approach needs to be actively maintained and championed by our incoming Chair and Trustees.
Our current Chair and several trustees are coming to the end of their terms, therefore we are looking for senior leaders who are passionate about addressing youth disadvantage, have an alignment with the Centrepoint values, a commitment to achieving our vision and mission and drive and ambition to raise awareness to create positive impact for homeless young people.
Following a skills audit across the Board, the skills, knowledge and experience that we are prioritising in this recruitment are as follows:
· Operational and strategic executive leadership in a comparable or larger organisation.
· Campaigning, influencing, communications, brand or marketing capability.
· Operational and strategic leadership in philanthropy or fundraising.
· Strategic Partnership experience.
Relevant sectors could include:
· Social Housing, Supported or Independent Living.
· FE/Skills/Apprenticeships/Education/Schools.
· Media/Advertising/Youth Brands.
· Commercial Property Development.
· Youth Criminal Justice/Mental Health.
Whilst previous Trustee or NED experience would be desirable, it is not essential for a Trustee appointment. Some NED or Trustee experience would be preferred for those interested in the Chair role.

We are passionate about our work and see young people’s potential rather than their limitations. By joining the Centrepoint Board, your skills, insights and passion will help us achieve our vision of ending youth homelessness and creating a fairer world for all.
